Look what I did last weekend! (Clockwise: Dresses, blazers, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, pants, skirts)
I went through my closet. I had so much fun! I was looking to elminate a few things: clothes that needed to be thrown away, clothes that needed to be donated, and clothes that needed to be put in storage for fall.
Now my closet is all set with my beautiful spring and summer clothes. Check it out!

I love my wood hangers. It makes it feel like I’m dressing from a boutique every day.

And here are my sweaters that I keep folded up in a basket above my clothes. It looks good now; I am going to enjoy it while it lasts. And that’s my summer fun purse next to it. Almost time to use it!
Ok, Spring. I’m ready whenever you are!
Do you purge your closet as the seasons change? Or am I the only one who finds this ridiculously fun??
I usually don’t purge, just rearrange. It might be different this year now that I’m not working…I strangely miss gettin dressy-dressed every day. Some of my things may be destined to go to the consignment shop.
I would miss that too! I have a bunch of fancy dresses that I wore to weddings that I can’t seem to get rid off, even though I don’t really wear them. I might need them someday!
Fun? I do not find this fun. Sometimes I don’t mind sorting other things, but I do not like sorting/organizing clothes.
I know what you mean. But I put on some music and made it into a dance party. Plus I love all of my summer dresses, so that makes it easier too.
Can’t say I purge very often, but I did just throw away and replace ALL of my white socks!
That’s a good purge! I went through all of my workout clothes and got rid of the awful cotton tshirts that I always get at races but never wear. Off to Goodwill!
The wardrobe rotation seems like something that glamorous jet-setters do. I have a teeny house with no closet space, so even if I wanted to move my out of season clothes out of my closet, I maybe could store them in trash bags under my house, but that’s kind of it.
So yes, I am EXTREMELY IMPRESSED by your wardrobe clean out! It’s weirdly aspirational for me. You are so fancy.
I have a one in, one out policy in my closet, so I never really have to do a major purge. I just do micro purges year around as I get new-to-me things. I have a set number of (wooden) hangers in my closet, so I know if I’m am short on hangers, something’s gotta go…
Thank you! You are too kind.
I also suspect that you live somewhere where you can wear your clothes all year round. I’m in Connecticut, and heavy winter clothes have got to go when springtime comes!
I am living on campus and I’ve moved a lot. So I actually have managed to give away clothes to girls at school and anything they don’t like I donate. I’ve always donated clothes. Right now I’m trying to get my style really down to the essentials where I can just pull things together effortlessly and it just goes well together.
Me too! I find the easiest way to limit my wardrobe is that I only wear a few specific colors. This pool is creeping larger all the time, but I try to stick with pink, navy blue, brown, white/cream, green, and purple. It makes shopping so much easier, and everything I buy almost automatically goes with at least 50% of what I already own. win win win!
Moving a lot is also helpful. Don’t every settle down!
Where did you purchase the wooden hangers? I love those.
I think I got most of them from IKEA, and then supplemented with a few others from Bed Bath & Beyond, since IKEA is kind of a hike from here.
